My Commitment to Hernando County Parents, Students, Staff, and Community:

WE HAVE TO PROPERLY FUND OUR SCHOOLS FOR OUR FUTURE

Our critical needs include the following:

  • Proportionate Funding: State & Local Effort

  • Build capacity for future growth with new construction

  • Salary increases to improve recruitment and retention of teachers

  • More bus drivers to effectively cover all routes

  • Accountability for use of tax dollars. Conservative fiscal policy focusing on infrastructure and necessities

ADDRESS THE OVERCROWDING DUE TO THE DEVELOPMENT BOOM

  • Redistricting to reduce capacity imbalances as reasonably as possible

  • New school construction, expansion at predesigned existing schools, & additional classroom capacity ('concretables') at some existing schools

CIVILITY FOR THE COMMON GOAL

Despite the urgency of these needs... Where has the district focused its time and attention?  On objectionable books that complainants want removed from school libraries. From October '23 to May '24, we've had the same conversation more than 50 times!

Let's listen to the District's Legal Counsel; stop the circus and restore civility.

If we truly listen and regain our focus, we'll be in better position to improve public trust.

It is only with respect; civility and collaboration with all stakeholders that a positive future becomes achievable.
